Some examples of IT contract issues Jun 9, 2021
The first questions to ask include:
- What is being provided;
- When is it being provided; and
- Who is providing the goods or services.
In order to answer these questions, there will often need to be a comprehensive scope for the IT services to be provided, including the client’s requirements, including time frames for delivery as well as the obligations on both the provider and the client such as testing criteria.
The entire IT project will generally include:
- Discrete tasks of the supplier and customer;
- Time-frames for completion (either of stages or the project as a whole);
- Quality assurance standards and measurement. The parties should agree, and the agreement should set out, quality metrics that will apply to the services.
- Support obligations both during the IT project and post completion.
- Reporting requirements, for example, a weekly report that covers milestone status.
